The mentioned alternative you suggested did not work for me Jeff, but might work for others. I had tried it 4 times before I gave up, even after being instructed by Adobe Technical support and unfortunately it did not remedy the issue. When I get home I will use Pandorica's method to see if it resolves my failed update issue.
