Revising a clip name in the Project panel has never rippled the change to clips that are already in a sequence. As far as I'm aware, it never has.
We've heard this request from a fair number of customers, so it's already on our backlog. Feel free to submit a feature request. Every "vote" counts and helps us manage our priorities.
