PDF is being distributed to Service Managers in Car Repair Centers. Rather than typing the entire number into their database, they tend to copy the number from the PDF and fill in the variable content.
Client is afraid it will be confusing if there is only one space for a 2-digit number.
If you need several spaces, you should use fixed width spaces. InDesign provides specific Figure Space in the same width as numbers are. Type > Insert white Space > Figure Space. This would be better than to use normal spaces.
Normal spaces have variable widths as it is set up in Paragraph Styles > Justification. That results in unknown width if you use it.
